Arriving soon before his interview, while being miked, photographer Oliviero Toscani asked, "why the hell you want to discuss Che with me?"
Initially, Director Douglas Duarte was mistaken for a neo-nazi while shooting their parade on the film - something that helped gain access to them. But after they discovered he was not "one of them", they ran him over.
Soon after leaving Beirut for the Che Opera scenes, the whole country was bombarded by Israeli forces and the airport shut down.
Carlos, the Cuban cab driver who's raising his Ernestito to be "just like Che", was never intended to be part of the film. The filmmakers arrived in Cuba planning to interview photographers who had shot Che and also his widow, Aleida. Carlos gave them a ride between the scheduled interviews which ended up never being used.
