The filmmakers traveled around 66,725 miles (107,383 km) to shoot the documentary. That's roughly 2.5 times Earth's circumference.

Initially, Director Douglas Duarte was mistaken for a neo-nazi while shooting their parade on the film - something that helped gain access to them. But after they discovered he was not "one of them", they ran him over.

Carlos, the Cuban cab driver who's raising his Ernestito to be "just like Che", was never intended to be part of the film. Carlos gave them a ride between the scheduled interviews which ended up never being used.

"Jon Lee Anderson: You can be a fascist football player in Italy and say that Che speaks for you. And more obviously a Marxist in Latin America and claim that Che speaks for you. Or a fashionista in London and say that you're really about revolution, too. Everyone can have their Che."
