First season episode titles often begin with some variation of "Let's Get ....", as a homage to Olivia Newton-John's hit song "Physical" from 1981, released during the aerobics craze that swept America in the early 1980's. It's chorus repeatedly uses the line, "Let's get physical...".
As of August 2021, Physical has been renewed for a second season.
In the second season each episode starts with the words "don't you", giving credit mostly to the song "Don't You Want Me" by the The Human League. The song, which was a huge hit at the time the show was set, is played in the first episode of the 2nd season. It is also the opposite of the the 1st season's episode names starting with 'let's'.
This series is set in the 1980's in San Diego, CA.
