The filmmakers first decision was to make a movie based on the locals of Trivandrum Chenkalchoola. But they got sidetracked after meeting the locals. Most of the people were die-hard fans of superstar Vijay, and the filmmakers were so impressed by them, they decided to scrap the project and make a new one based on Vijay fans.
According to the writer "Prof. Seetharamayer" the character portrayed by Nedumudi Venu was based on Trivandrum Sub Collector Divya. S. Ayers' father, who is a die hard Vijay fan.
