There are many references to Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" in the movie: the main character's name is Darcy Fitzwilliam, which is the reverse of the main love interest of the book, Mr. (Fitzwilliam) Darcy. Also, the town in which the movie takes place is Pemberley, a clear nod to Mr. Darcy's country estate.
