The miniature steam train shown at about 54 minutes into the movie was originally installed at the Herbert Fleishhacker Zoo, now known as the San Francisco Zoo, in 1925 and operated for 53 years until being temporarily retired in 1978. The steam train was then restored in 1997, at which time it was converted from coal to natural gas burning. The original train was offered for sale via a 1905 Cagney catalog for $15,000. The 1997 train restoration cost approximately $75,000 with the total coming to $700,000 when including the depot, plaza, track, landscaping and storage barn.
