The last name of the lead characters is Suvarna. This is a tribute to Sadananda Suvarna, the director of Guddada Bhoota TV serial.
Rakshith Shetty was originally offered the role played by Nirup Bhandari.
The film story has traces of an old, very popular Kannada television series Guddada Bhoota (directed by Sadananda Suvarna). The village in the film is Kamarottu and the character Angara, these were also in Guddada Bhoota. The film can be considered as a spin off from the TV serial.
The film has been shot with source lighting - where the lighting seems to come primarily from a visible source, like a window or a fire.
While writing the story, Anup sought rights from Sadananda Suvarna to the song "Dennana Dennnana..." of Guddada Bhoota serial to use the song in the film.
