TRIVIA

Trivia

The film's score was performed by only four people: Composer Paul Wurth, vocalist Madeline Rose, violinist Steve DiNardo, and percussionist J. Thomas Pennington.

Originally all filming was to take place during Summer 2011. A crucial shooting location, Fort Massac (Southern Illinois), was lost due to natural causes, and so the production was split between seasons. A period accurate shanty fort was built by a handful of volunteers in 17 days, and filming resumed in December 2011. That fort, dubbed Fort Hein (after the head carpenter), was subsequently torn down and no longer exists.

With a few exceptions, all wardrobe in the film was actually modified contemporary clothing, retrofitted with metallic and wood buttons, distressed and aged to fit the period.

Part of the film's budget was raised via Kickstarter, with donations ranging anywhere from $1 to $1000.

The cabin of the family that gets attacked and the cabin that the Preacher's family lives in are actually the same location. As a cost-saving measure, the art department dressed half of the interior location as the family's cabin, and the other half as Preacher's.
