TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The producers, at the time of production, were not legally allowed to make this film appear to be a sequel to the Japanese series "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross (1982)" or use any of its main characters. To avoid this appearance, characters from the original "Robotech (1985)" such as Minmei ("Minmay" in the original Japanese) and Lisa Hayse ("Misa Hayase") were scrapped due to their similar sounding names. The one returning character, "Rick Hunter," was able to be used because his name sounded nothing like the original Japanese ("Hikaru Ichijô") and his appearance was drastically altered as to not resemble the original character. This was also the reason why Maia gave her heritage as "half alien" instead of being more specific (half Zentraedi, being the daughter of Max and Mirya).

The Haydonites, in one scene, refer to the races who uses protoculture as "Protoculture addicts". This is the name of a print publication that began as a Canadian fanzine in 1987 and would continue to be a major anime print publication (quickly expanding its content to general anime fandom) until its cessation in 2008.

Originally announced as "Robotech: Shadow Force" by Harmony Gold at Anime Expo 2004. This was later changed due to the term "Shadow Force Megazord" having already been used in the series Power Rangers Time Force in 2001.

Although Charles Duckworth recorded all of his lines for the role of Marcus, the role was re-recorded by Yuri Lowenthal later in post-production. In fact, nearly all of the film's dialogue was re-recorded by the original cast months prior to its release, with additional recasting taking place by having Alexandra Kenworthy reprising her role as The Regess, who was portrayed by Kari Wahlgren in the film's initial unreleased dub.

A new sequel that continues directly from the unresolved finale of the original Robotech (1985) series. This feature is not related to the scrapped Robotech 3000 (2000) project.
