Robots Review

"Robots" falls short in delivering humor, lacking both in unfortunate and occasionally aggressive ways. Based on a 1973 short story, the foundation of the story offers some amusement. However, the screenplay by Ant Hines and Casper Christensen's misses the mark, with a series of miscalculations. Set in 2032, the film attempts political satire but feels vague and outdated, evident in its pop culture references. The narrative explores a future where undocumented immigration is a thing of the past, replaced by robots. The main characters, Charles and Elaine, use robot doubles for their personal gain until an unexpected turn leads to the robots falling in love. The bonding between the human characters feels unconvincing, and the film takes a jarring shift in tone with a mass shooting plot element. Overall, "Robots" lacks insight, foresight, and well-executed humor, leaving it poorly imagined and executed.
