This is the second of three westerns that Cagney made. The first was "The Oklahoma Kid" (1939) and his third and final one was "Tribute To A Bad Man" (1956).

The Train is the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad which opened in 1882 and is still in operation. Most all the exterior filming was shot in Silverton, Colorado.
