Director Catriona Mackenzie wrote the screenplay for indigenous Australian actor David Gulpilil who she had first seen in Nicolas Roeg's 'Walkabout' (1971).

The picture was the "...first feature film that received permission to film in the magical surroundings of the Bungle Bungle Range" according to the 'Creative Spirits' website. Wikipedia states that the movie was the "first feature film allowed to shoot in the World Heritage-listed area, with consultation from the indigenous community".

The film was nominated for two 2013 AACTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts) Awards in 2014 - Best Film and Best Sound - but the picture failed to win a gong in either category.

Debut theatrical feature film of actresses Dolores Roberts and Kaylene Marr and actors Joseph Pedley, Callum McKenzie, and Cameron Wallaby.

Actor Callum McKenzie, portrayed a character, Callum , who had the same first name as his own.
