Godfrey's office was built on a sound stage to accommodate the Christmas lights stunt. To tie the restaurant in with the office, the art department transported the office door from one location to the other.

The original draft of the script was written in 1999 - eleven years before production.

Servitude was the first film greenlit for production that was developed through the Telefilm Canada Features Comedy Lab, a Canadian Film Centre (CFC) Film Program in collaboration with Just For Laughs. The Comedy Lab pairs accomplished Canadian filmmakers and their comedy scripts with the best comedy minds in the world.
