Rotten TomatoesFifty Shades Of Grey is a erotic romance drama film where the plot revolves around Anastasia Steele, a literature student who falls in love with billionaire businessman Christian Grey, played by Jamie Dornan. As their relationship deepens, Anastasia learns that Christian is into BDSM and she starts to explore his dark and unconventional sexual preferences. Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has smartly adapted the novel of the same name by EL James. Adding to that, the sizzling chemistry between Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson keeps you hooked. However, there is some criticism around the shallow nature of the plot, which fails to touch the depths of romance in what is supposed to be a through-and-through romance film. So, while the film is a steamy and provocative movie that will appeal to fans of the novel and those interested in exploring the world of BDSM, it may not be for everyone, and some viewers may find the movie lacking in substance and depth.

Remote controlled cameras were utilized for a majority of the sex scenes so the set could be more private for the actors, though stunt coordinator Melissa R. Stubbs said in an interview that in some of the wilder scenes, the two lead actors had to spend hours naked in front of a full crew.
Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey revealed that he and his team digitally added in shots of visible pubic hair and that it was not real. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan both wore sheer modesty patches, often used in sex scenes, to cover themselves while shooting.
Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan filmed the scenes in the red room the last week of the production's shootings. This way they would be more comfortable with each other since they had spent a lot of time together during the rest of the shoot.
Dakota Johnson took a flogger and several pairs of underwear from the film set. She took the underwear claiming they were too comfortable to leave behind.
Jamie Dornan revealed that he visited a private sex dungeon for research on his Christian Grey character.
