The film in 1999 was nominated for 5 AFI (Australian Film Institute Awards) including Best Film (Al Clark, Best Original Screenplay (Max Dann and Andrew Knight), Best Achievement in Editing (Nicholas Beaumann), Best Achievement in Production Design (Steven Jones-Evans), and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role - Roy Billing, but the film failed to take home a gong in any category.

The film won three International Fantasy Film Awards at the Fantosporto Film Festival Awards in the year 2000. They were for Best Actress (Danielle Cormack), Best Film (John Polson), and Best Screenplay (Max Dann and Andrew Knight).
