Mickey Rooney wrote a letter of protest against the first Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) stating that the "scum" who made it should be "run out of town" for having sullied the sacredness of Christmas , but he co-starred in this fifth installment in the gory horror series.
During the scene where Noah is playing Santa at the mall, a little girl asks him for a copy of the movie "Bride of Re-Animator", which was a film directed by screenwriter Brian Yuzna, who also directed the fourth Silent Night, Deadly Night. The characters Pino and Petto are references to Pinocchio and Gepetto, from the classic 1883 novel.

Richard N. Gladstein, who served as a Producer, plays an extra/actor with no dialogue. In the previous film in the series Initiation: Silent Night, Deadly Night 4 he played a character with a full role while serving as Producer.
