According to director Kim Ki-duk this film was prepared in 10 days, shot in 20 days on location and post-produced in 30 days.

Shot digitally on two Canon EOS 5D Mark II DSLR cameras. The director operated one of the cameras himself.

According to the 'Hollywood Reporter' the film's budget was only 13000 dollars.

Kim Ki-duk's biggest box office hit in his home country South Korea, where it made 3.9 mill. dollars.

It is the first Korean film to win the top prize at one of the three major international film festivals - Venice, Cannes and Berlin.
