Fred Olen Ray pitched an idea to writer Jeffrey Hogue years before and Hogue ended up using it for this movie. So Ray was given a co-story writing credit. After the film was released, it received awful reviews, but they mentioned Ray instead of the actual director Arthur N. Mele. That infuriated Ray because he had nothing to do with the making of the film. He never even saw it.
