In real life as of 2019, Kirby Heybourne is the only actor out of the main three who is an active member of The LDS Church. Will and Danny have both since left the LDS faith
The part of Moosebutter was originally written for the REAL Mormon boy band, "Jericho Road". Unfortunately, Jericho Road is owned by Deseret Book who forbid them to be in the movie because they found the song "Sweet Spirit" to be offensive.
The number listed on Will and Danny's flier for the boy band audition is 867-5309, which references the Tommy Tutone song "Jenny (867-5309)." This number also appears in the other Halestorm films "The Singles Ward," "The R.M.," and "Church Ball."
At the time of filming, Will Swenson was married to Peter Brown's cousin. The first song they wrote together was "Nourish and Strengthen". He is now married to Audra McDonald.
"Will Jensen: We're looking for someone a little more dedicated, quite honestly. Danny Jensen: Someone who's willing to commit. Will Jensen: Right, and somebody that is willing to walk the path of righteousness with us. We're going to find someone that has some wicked moves... Danny Jensen: Oh yeah, I mean pipes. Will Jensen: ...Some bad mother vocal tricks, and some that most importantly, is in touch with the Divine, um, as we are. A black guy would be awsome, right? Danny Jensen: Yeah! Will Jensen: There's only like ten black guys in Utah, but we'll find them."
"Kirby Laybourne: I'm so excited. I am going to be in a boy band. That's never happened to me before, unless you count Sunshine Generation, but that's a bigger group of kids; it wasn't just like three kids... like we're not really kids. We're men. Um... which is kind of funny. Why is it a boy band? We should be a man band. I'll bring that up with them later."
