One week before the prosecuting attorney was due on set, the role (originally written as a male, Melvin Pitt) was rewritten and recast for Sandra VanNatta as Evelyn Pitt.
The role of the Prison Chaplain was played by Michael G. Kam, the "real" Mitchell Kane.
The location used as the Carpenter's home in the film was the actual home of the real Larry & Jackie Carpenter.
