Shera lives a poor lifestyle in Bombay along with his widower dad, a retired school-teacher, and is love with his neighbor, Sapna, who he hopes to marry some day. Shera wants to get rich quickly, but unable to get a job, decides to take to crime and works with a gangster, Jaggu. He soon gets arrested, tried in Court, found guilty, and sentenced to jail for several months. When he is released he returns home to find that Sapna has befriended a lawyer, Avinash Prakash. Shortly thereafter Shera's father is informed that Shera has been arrested again, this time for abducting and killing Revati Prasad, the daughter of wealthy Dharam Prasad.

After the film released, the producer Anil Nagrath blasted Suresh Oberoi in the media. He stated Oberoi troubled him while making the film. He went on to state that Oberoi had a split personality . Suresh responded that he barely knew the producer and he had signed the film because of Ashok Tyagi. He knew Ashok since 1984 and dealt mostly with Ashok while filming the movie. Suresh suggested Anil was only trying to find publicity for his film.
Moon Moon Sen's voice was dubbed due to her heavy Bengali accent. The director Ashok Tyagi made the decision. But producer Anil Nagrath claimed that Moon Moon created problems for him by creating a fuss that her voice was being dubbed.
Suresh Oberoi stated his female fans hated his clean shaven look. He grew back his facial hair after the film.
