On August 1st 2019, Ali Fazal tweeted "There's a court case on the producers of this film as far as i remember. Cheques had bounced. Actors and crew still haven't gotten paid. Surprised to see a promotional song coming out from the film", after the song 'Khainch Le Qashh' was released.
The film was shot and completed in 2016 time frame. However due to legal tangles and pay issues between Prakash Raj and Zee Studios, the film's release was delayed. 6 years later, the film cleared hurdles & released directly on Zee Studio's OTT platform, ZEE5.
Taapsee & Shriya's voices are dubbed by other artists. Due to lack of payment by the producers, the actresses did not complete the dubbing of the film and thats why they sound so different in the film.
The film ran into legal trouble over intellectual property rights and allegedly no payments have been made to the cast and crew of the film that was set to release in 2017.
Prakash Raj makes his directorial debut in hindi films though he directed films in regional language before.
