Teen Wolf: The Movie is a teen drama that takes the concept of supernatural werewolves and brings them to the mainstream in today's cinema. But it miserably fails in doing justice to this unique plot. It lacks any of the energy and thrill that make up a fun and intriguing supernatural thriller. The reboot is best forgotten, as the cheesy soundtrack and unrealistic visual effects deter you from watching even a few minutes of this new werewolf thriller. Destroying the legacy of the classic Teen Wolf movie series, this conclusion is best replaceable by any of the previous movies in the list. There are certainly a lot of easter eggs that make fans curious, but the sheer terrible storytelling and cringeworthy acting performances make it unbearable. It does, however, chalk out a possible future for the series, given that the creators will want to continue it after the horrific performance of this movie at the box office and among streaming audiences.

Dylan O'Brien confirmed that he will not be in this movie in an exclusive interview with Variety on March 9, 2022. "It was a difficult decision. A lot went into it," he told the outlet. "The show couldn't be more dear to me. It was the first thing I ever did I and so many people there are extremely dear to me. It was something I was trying to make work but it all happened very fast. We didn't really know that it was happening and they kind of just threw it at us a little bit, which is fine because we all love the show. We were trying to figure it out..Ultimately, I just decided it was left in a really good place for me and I still want to leave it there. I wish them well and I'm going to watch it the first night it comes out. I hope it fucking kicks a**, but I'm not going to be in it."
On March 21, 2022, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the cast is on set and the revival has officially started filming.
Filming commenced around March 22, 2022, and wrapped up on approximately May 17, 2022.
The movie is set 15 years after the end of Season 3.
