  • Story:

It all starts with the announcement to resume the shooting during the pandemic at Britain’s Pinewood Studios. The cast and crew reunite for a successful action franchise Cliff Beasts 6. So they have to bubble up in a huge English hotel for a three months shoot. The visionary director (Fred Armisen) with his star cast, Carol (Caren Gillan), Lauren (Leslie Mann) Dustin ( David Duchovny), Sean ( Keegan-Michael Key), Krystal (Iris Apatow), Howie (Guz Khan), and Dieter (Pedro Pascal) are gathered together to shoot the movie. You see actors ahead of a greenscreen staging with some funny moments. Is this a way such movies are filmed? The Bubble is going to answer your question in a satirical way. Shooting goes on with some funny incidents. Dustin interferes and tries to rewrite the script of the Cliff Beasts franchise. But then a PA is found infected with Covid. Here the story takes a turn in a hilarious way. Do you also want to be a part of this fun journey? Then do watch The Bubble.

Why should you watch The Bubble?

The nicely surreal scene in the movie, suggests to us how it is very easy to fake any exterior location digitally. When the cast is tired and getting bored, they free climb a high mountain and start floating away on their invisible wires. Guz Khan doing whatever in the movie, is quite funny. The scenes filmed by Mann and Duchovny are great as they together look interesting, making you want some more. Gillan in the movie is seen with some sense of desperation from start to finish in the movie. When all the characters come together onscreen, it creates chaos with a lot of fun and entertainment. Some supportive characters like Ronjon (Vir Das) and Gunther (Harry Trevaldwyn) also mark their presence with their perfect comic timing in some scenes.

The Bubble is a funny satirical drama. The movie sets and the way a film is shot suggest you an idea about the film industry which causes some ridiculous situations as well. The idea behind the green screen and VFX-driven studio work well for the mainstream audience who can relate to the occurring situation.

There are also seen a couple of romantic subplots, which somehow seem unrelatable to the basic plot. Some stuff about the murderous security team really doesn’t go well and feels imposed or chunky. Despite some negative critics, it is definitely worth watching for those who love to laugh without such reasons.

    Trivial Alert

    • The actors in the film Leslie Mann and Iris Apatow are a wife and the daughter of Judd Apatow who is the director of the film.
    • The main plot of the movie The Bubble is inspired by the production of Jurrasic World Dominion. It was also filmed during the pandemic with the actors, living together in a hotel for the shoot.

Trivia

Maria Bakalova was told live on set during a take by Judd Apatow that she had been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020).

During the promotional campaign that started on March 2, 2022, the film was initially advertised as "Cliff Beasts 6: The Battle for Everest: Memories of the Requiem". Even the official poster and the teaser trailer bore that title. The actual title was announced in the trailer that was released a few days later, and it was confirmed that "Cliff Beasts 6" was the film-within-the-film.

Galen Hopper's acting debut. She is the daughter of the late Dennis Hopper.

During the second quarantine, Dieter Bravo paints in the dark a copy of "Saturn devouring his son", one of the most famous paintings of Francisco de Goya. Goya painted it, along with another 13 paintings, directly onto the walls of his house, in a series called "Black Paintings" in the early 19th century. That series represents Goya's dark mood provoked by mental illness. All those paintings are now in the Museo del Prado in Madrid, Spain.

Rafi says to Lauren (Leslie Mann) "I thought you were dating the guy who used to be on Friends". Leslie starred in a couple of movies (also directed by her husband Judd Apatow) with Paul Rudd, playing a married couple. Rudd starred in the last seasons of Friends (1994).
