TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Car cost $84,000.00 to build.

According to director Elliot Silverstein, the distinctive sound the horn of The Car makes spells out the letter X in Morse code.

The make and model of "the car" was a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III black coupe, although this is never mentioned in the film. It's simply described as a "black car". The orange windows are never mentioned.

There were four cars built for the movie. One was used for close-ups whilst three were used for stunt work. Two of the cars were destroyed in the course of making the movie. One of the cars is kept in a private collection.

In order to give "the car" a "sinister" look as requested by director Elliot Silverstein, car customizer George Barris made the car's roof three inches (7.6 cm) lower than usual and altered its side fenders that same length again both higher and longer.

Popular Dialogues

"Donna: Wade... there's something I... I wanna tell you about last night. Well, the old lady... well, Chas, he didn't translate everything that she said. Wade Parent: What do you mean? Donna: Well, uh... she said... there was no driver in the car."

"Wade Parent: Whatever happened to last Thursday? I had it made last Thursday."
