The only word Secret Bear says aloud during the whole film is "Yeah!" shouted during the final song.
While many of the spells that Nicholas uses are made up words, one word he does use when casting a spell on his mentor to put him to sleep is "ishkabibble". This was actually a very popular American slang term for about 20 years or so starting around 1913 and means, appropriately enough, "Who cares".
The film grossed almost $23 million at the American box office, making it the most successful animated production outside the Disney market at the time of its release, and Nelvana's highest-grossing film for another eight years.
'Weird Al' Yankovic mentions this film in his original song, "You Make Me", which is a track on his 1988 album, "Even Worse".
One of the first films to be based directly on a toy line.
"[last lines] Mrs. Cherrywood: ...And a fine story that was, Mr. Cherrywood. Mr. Cherrywood: My favorite, Mrs. Cherrywood. But they never stay awake long enough for the end. Now, they'll never know what eventually became of Nicholas. I guess all they need to know is that he also lived happily ever after... Happier than I ever thought I could be. Mrs. Cherrywood: Nicholas, these children should have been in bed ages ago. What am I ever going to do with you? Mr. Cherrywood: Care for me, Mrs. Cherrywood. Just care for me."
"Brave Heart Lion: You're welcome to stay in the Forest of Feelings as long as you like. Friend Bear: Thank you, Brave Heart, but the sooner we leave, the better. If we don't hurry, Care-A-Lot may not be there when we get back. Kim: We have to find a way back to Earth. Jason: To help stop the evil spirit from taking the feelings away from everybody. Brave Heart Lion: Come on, everybody! Kim: Where? Brave Heart Lion: If there is a way out of the Forest of Feelings, we'll help you find it."
