According to the director on the DVD commentary, the maggots that get rubbed onto the face of the bratty sister are real. However, they didn't tell her that. It was their way of getting back at her for not showing up for filming on the previous day, due to her booking a higher paying job on that day. This made them angry since the film was on an amazingly short 10-day shooting schedule.
Dave Parker wrote the role of Eibon with Tom Savini, Alice Cooper, Blackie Lawless, and Dee Snider in mind as possible actors for the role.
The hospital set at the beginning of the film is re-used from End of Days.
Producer Charles Band has since gone on to say he didn't care for this film.
To accompany the article on the making of this film, Femme Fatales magazine shot nude photos of actress Sara Barrett on the movie sets for their January 2000 issue. Barrett wasn't in the movie but none of the actual actresses from the film would pose nude. Though Jamie Donahue did pose in sexy outfits in return for getting her own article and interview in the same issue.
