In the travel agency's window is a sign that reads, "TWA movie-in-flight: Jerry Lewis in 'The Disorderly Orderly'".

The hospital and grounds for the film were shot at the famous Greystone Mansion in Los Angeles, a site used in many films. From 2000 to 2003 both exteriors and interiors were used as the Chilton Preparatory School in the "Gilmore Girls" television series.

The waiter in the Italian restaurant intentionally switches accents, including Japanese, Italian, and finally Irish.

The ninth and last film in which Jerry Lewis was directed by Frank Tashlin.

This, and the previous Jerry Lewis comedy, "The Patsy" (1964), would be the final feature films for Everett Sloane. He would be in high demand for television roles, and for voice work, until his passing the following year.
