Two of the bipedal creatures seen later in the film can be spotted in the background in the scene when Jenson explains to Holly who Velma is (at around 37:49).
There's no Hauser Hall at the University of Oregon.
The exteriors were shot in and near the town of Kirovsk in the Russian Kola Peninsula (which also substituted for the Kholat Syakhl mountain in the Urals). Some scenes were also shot in Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi. The film crossed $2.6 million in its opening weekend in Russia.
While inside the bunker, Jenson discovers proof of the reputed 'Philadelphia Experiment'. When J.P. asks what this is, Jenson says it was an experiment in teleportation. This is incorrect. The experiment was reported as one into cloaking technology, which was supposed to render the USS Eldridge completely invisible to anyone off the ship.
"Hauser hall" is a reference to "Kaspar Hauser"- An enigmatic child who turned up in a German town in the 16th century, who's origin is considered a great mystery, akin to the Bermuda triangle, the Mary Celeste, or Count St Germaine (and who's been the subject of several movies, over the years, the most well-known being 1974's 'The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser (1974) film by Werner Herzog); Very fitting for a film about the equally-mysterious 'Dyatlov Pass'.
