This was one of several Fox TV pilots that wasn't picked up as a series and subsequently "burned off" during the summer of 1990. Each pilot aired only once, on a Wednesday night at 9:30 pm, over a six-week period from July 25 to August 29. This one aired August 15.
Kurt Paul is listed in the end credits as Paul Bearer (the cemetery caretaker), however, his scene was cut from the final version of the pilot which aired on network television, but it remains in the unfinalized workprint of the pilot and can been seen online on YouTube.
At the very end of the end credits, a freeze-frame used as a background image for the production company's title shows a man sitting up in a coffin trying to strangle another man standing next to the coffin. This freeze-frame is from another scene deleted from the workprint when Mr. Strack is attempting to come up with a scene for a novel, dictating his thoughts into a tape recorder, and in the background behind him this scene is shown with the coffin and the two actors. It can also be seen online on YouTube.
"Anthony Strack: Edgar, I have no qualms about disciplining you. Edgar Starck: Please do... I love to be disciplined! Anthony Strack: True... you are the only boy who, after spankings, leaves a tip."
"Elizabeth Strack: Miss Blasko! Should you be wearing an outfit like that... and in front of young Edgar? Miss Blasko: Why not? He bought it for me!"
