TRIVIA

Trivia

Was filmed in Big Spring, TX; in and near Gail, TX; near Snyder, TX; in Midland, TX; near Colorado City, TX; near Forsan, TX; near Coahoma, TX; and in Austin, TX.

The discovery well scene was shot in three parts in three days. The first day was filmed rigging up the Walker-neer 32S spudder rig, with tools and drilling floor, the second day was cut short after a 105deg. day, was hit with thunderstorms in the late evening, that included a hail storm, and they had to clear actors, and film crews to a barn near-by. The third day (with the luck of the Santa-Rita), and a sunset that was just like day one, the director shouted to film crew, to get to the rig ASAP, to get that sunset, the shots turned into a signature scene for the movie.
