TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The scene where Tommy's head becomes trapped in the railings of the staircase was inspired by a similar incident involving Delia Ephron, daughter of the film's screenwriters' Henry Ephron and Phoebe Ephron.

The house interior used as Jimmy Stewart's character's residence was previously used as the interior of the home of the main characters in the Mr. Belvedere film Sitting Pretty (1948). The secretarial desk by the staircase is used by characters in both films.

The photograph on Fred Clark's desk is that of silent star Mae Marsh. She does not appear in the film. She was also 20 years his senior.

The $24,000 in prizes he wins in 1950 would be about $280,000 in 2022.

William Katt, Barbara Hale's son said in a 2007 interview that she was pregnant with him during the filming of this movie as well as Lorna Doone (1951).
