The music book being used by older Eveline, played by Tippi Hedren, at the opening of the movie was an actual music book owned and used by Eveline McCord Adams, played by Gwendolyn Edwards.
The watch carried by Julian Adams (Captain Robert Adams) in the film was the actual watch that Captain Adams owned and carried during the War. The watch was made in England in 1801. It was given to Captain Adams by his father Robert Adams I, who was given the watch by his father Joel Adams. It has been in the possession of the family ever since.
The story is based on the life of Robert Adams II and Eveline McCord, the great grandparents of Writer and Producer Weston Adams, and the great-great grandparents of Actor, Writer, and Producer Julian Adams.
Eveline McCord was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and moved south prior to the outbreak of the Civil War. She was the great grandniece of Betsy Ross, the creator of the first American flag.
Much of this movie was shot on the land, and at the house (Wavering Place), of Dr. Julian Adams, the brother of Weston Adams. During the nineteenth century, the land and house belonged to James P. Adams, who was the brother of Robert Adams II (the protagonist of the film).
