TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Premiered on Disney+ on the same date (17 November) that the original The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) was broadcast on CBS 42 years earlier.

The word Tip-Yip first appeared in Ben Burtt's 2001 book "Star Wars: The Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide" as the Ewokese translation for 'fowl' (as in domesticated hen or rooster). As of 2019, various dishes such as Fried Endorian Tip-Yip are served at Galaxy's Edge, the Star Wars themed section at Disney and it's even featured in The Mandalorian, in the bar where Din Djarin and Boba Fett meet Bo-Katan in Chapter 16.

Features the celebration known as "Life Day" which was first introduced in the original The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). Now a source of humor for fans, the original television special was heavily criticized and mocked. Due to this, George Lucas bought all master copies so it could never be broadcast again. However, it is possible to find the special on the internet.

Chewie's family from The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) (wife Malla, son Lumpy and Chewbacca's father Itchy) all appear, although they are not identified on screen. Then Maz Kanata arrives and calls Chewbacca her boyfriend, just like she did in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015), and the two of them start running around and frolicking on the Falcon - all right in front of Chewie's wife Malla.

When the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) premiered on Disney+, viewers noticed that a new snippet of dialogue had been added to the cantina scene. Greedo utters the word 'Maclunky' just before being shot. When a Rodian guest arrives on the Falcon in this special, he says the same word.

Popular Dialogues

"[all of the time-displaced characters have been dropped into the Tatoonie desert. As everyone gets their bearings, three different versions of Obi-Wan greet each other] Obi-Wan Kenobi: Hello there. [a legless Darth Maul crawls up] Darth Maul: Ahem. [all the heroes and villains face off with each other. Both Old and Young Han Solo dust themselves off] Greedo: Oonta, goota, Solos? Old Han Solo: You wanna shoot first? Han Solo: After you. [both Solos blast Greedo. All the good guys and bad guys charge at each other and meet head-on in an epic clash]"

"Rey: [watching Obi-Wan and Anakin] It's Obi-Wan Kenobi training Anakin Skywalker! [BB-8 beeps] Rey: No, they didn't see me. [Obi-Wan and Anakin leap onto the elevator roof with their lightsabers drawn] Obi-Wan Kenobi: Hello there. Rey: [nervously chuckles] Hi. [opens a portal and escapes]"
