IMDbWith The Mummy's Hand (1940) taking place in 1940, this film should therefore be set in 1970, as frequent mention is made of thirty years having passed. However, there is no attempt to create a futuristic setting and the film includes contemporary mentions of the ongoing Second World War.
In a 1995 interview with TV host Skip E. Lowe, actor Turhan Bey (Mehemet Bey) cited this film as his favorite particularly because he loved playing his character.
Dick Foran and Wallace Ford reprise their roles from The Mummy's Hand, making them the only actors in the series (outside of Lon Chaney Jr. as Kharis) to play the protagonists in more than one movie. However, George Zucco plays high priests in the first three "Kharis" films, and Frank Reicher plays Professor Norman in this and "The Mummy's Ghost."
First of Lon Chaney's three MUMMY features, begun June 1, 1942, and released October 23, on a double bill with "Night Monster. "
Although Dick Foran played John Hubbard's father, he was only four years his senior in real life.
"Mehemet Bey: The moon rides high in the sky again, Kharis; there's death in the night air. Your work begins."
"Andoheb: Now swear by the sacred gods of Egypt, that you will never rest until the last remaining member of the Banning family is destroyed. Mehemet Bey: I swear!"
