TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

While on a promotional tour for The Dog Who Stopped the War (1984), producer Rock Demers crossed paths with a 17-year-old Céline Dion at a radio station in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. He was so impressed by her singing, he asked if she would do some songs for the soundtrack of The Peanut Butter Solution (1985) which he was about to shoot. Those song (Listen to the Magic Man and Michael's Song) ended up being the first English-language songs she ever performed.

Producer Rock Demers loved the painting of the family playing tennis so much that he hung it in his office for over 30 years.

Producer Rock Demers has said when he and director Michael Rubbo began the film, their goal was to create a "gentle, frightening film." He felt the theme was "If something frightens you, find out why. In most cases you'll discover it wasn't so frightening after all."

Skippy peanut butter paid for prominent product placement in the film.

The Signor, The Rabbit, Dr. Epstein and the homeless man Tom are all brothers. Tom explains his childhood early in the film, "I had lots of brothers." When questioned about his brother, The Rabbit stutters, "he died, I think he died in a fire."

Popular Dialogues

"Sergio: [to a group of children he has kidnapped] Quiet! Or I'll put you in the net!"

"Principal: I found out that you've been kicked out of two schools, that you've faked famous paintings, and that you've changed your name and appearance four times. AND you claim to be Rembrandt's great-great-great-great grandson. Sergio: I am a great teacher. I am a great artist. I am a great-great-great-GREAT GRANDSON! Paris, Milano, Veroncia!"
