James Roache plays his father William Roache.
"Florizel Street", the original working title of Coronation Street (1960), came from a painting that writer Tony Warren hung in his Granada Television office showing Prince Florizel battling his way through the enchanted forest.
The scene in which Pat and Tony are singing in the street (and told to be quiet), was actually filmed on the Victoria Street area of the Coronation Street (1960) set.
In the actual Coronation Street (1960), Ann Aris (Nita Valerie) holds the record for the most parts played in the series, with twelve different roles.
Lynda Baron (Violet Carson), Shaun Dooley (Derek Bennett), John Thomson (Harry Kershaw), James Roache (William Roache), Michelle Holmes (Tina Fowler), Ann Aris (Nita Valerie), Tara Moran (Edna Walker), Enid Dunn (Agnes), Malcolm Raeburn (Board Member) and William Atkinson (Granada Worker) all previously or later had roles in Coronation Street (1960).
"Tony Warren: When I was twelve you threatened to smack my bottom. Violet Carson: The way I remember it, I *did* smack it. [grimly, but smiling] Violet Carson: And don't think I couldn't do it again."
"Agnes the tea-lady: "Florizel Street"? Is that what it's called? Sounds like a disinfectant."
