TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Chauncey Leopardi reprises his role as Squints for the first time in 14 years, the only actor from The Sandlot (1993) to play a part in this sequel. Michael Antonakos was the only actor from The Sandlot 2 (2005) to do so.

The line given by John Kruk near the end of the movie, "I'm not looking for athletes, I'm looking for ball players" comes from an interview given by Kruk while playing for the Philadelphia Phillies. In the interview, he stated that he was not an athlete; he was a baseball player.

WILHELM SCREAM: When Tommy runs out of Mr. Myrtle's house after being chased by the giant baseball.

In order to help the pitcher learn to aim his deadly fastballs better, the kids put a picture of E.J., their nemesis, on the catcher's mitt. If you don't blink you'll notice that the expression on the photo of E.J. changes from "snarling intimidation" to "surprised fear" just before the ball lands in the mitt.

There are two references to The Wizard of Oz (1939) in this film. The first is when Tommy gets knocked out by a baseball and wakes up 1976. Mimicking the scene in the tornado where Dorothy gets knocked out by a window and wakes up in Oz. And the second is when Tommy wakes up in the hospital, and sees Q as his doctor. Mimicking the part where Dorothy wakes up in Kansas and sees her family and friends by her side.
