Ewan McGregor met his best friend Charley Boorman while making this movie.
Never theatrically released in the UK, or Ireland, where it was filmed
When Ewan McGregor accepted the role, it easily fit into his schedule at the time. However, filming would be delayed for a year, due to a long search for an appropriate house to use in the movie. McGregor would end up having to turn down several roles he had been offered, in order to honor the commitment he had made to do The Serpent's Kiss.
Pete Postlethwaite and Ewan McGregor previously appeared together in Brassed Off (1996).
"Madam Clevely: Any flowers? Chrome: This is an Anglo-Dutch garden, madam, with French influence. We have progressed from flowers. A garden is a celebration of art's triumph over nature. Fitzmaurice: We shall be the fucking flowers. We shall provide the color and scent as we walk among the gravel paths."
"Fitzmaurice: Don't you remember? Cousins can do things that other people can't. And we were more than children before anyone knew what we were up to. Juliana: Even we didn't know."
