TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Loosely based on the true story of Soeur Sourire, who had a #1 pop hit in America with "Dominique". Unfortunately, the lovable nun was a one-hit wonder whose life did not continue happily after her brief blush of chart success. After leaving the church for a full-time music career, she ran into heavy financial problems and eventually took her own life.

Debbie Reynolds' last film under her MGM contract.

Dorothy Dandridge, Pearl Bailey and Nichelle Nichols tested for the role of Sister Mary.

Debbie Reynolds and director Henry Koster had a very bad working relationship on this film, which led Koster, at age 60, to retire from film-making. Reynolds went as far as to tell a British TV interviewer a few years later that Koster had "gone senile" during the filming, which was, of course, completely untrue.

Final film of director Henry Koster also final film for actress Dorothy Patrick.

Popular Dialogues

"Father Clementi: Your songs, your music, don't you think you've won a great victory through them? Sister Ann: What kind of victory, Father, if I've lost myself winning it?"

"Father Clementi: What is all this? Mother Prioress: I believe it's called fan mail."
