TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Actress Daphne Zuniga once said: "It's hard to admit, but I really was a lot like this character."

The scene where Gib teaches Alison to shotgun a beer was added to the script after John Cusack told Rob Reiner it was something he knew how to do.

Because John Cusack was only 17 and hence a minor during production, he had to seek legal emancipation from his parents in order to shoot on location.

A poster for director Rob Reiner's previous film, This Is Spinal Tap (1984), hangs on the closet in Gib's dorm room.

Many film critics have likened the film to being a modern update of It Happened One Night (1934).

Popular Dialogues

"Gib: [encounter a padlocked trailer while attempting to get out of the rain] It's locked! Good! This is very good! It's important that this place should have an air-tight security system... in the middle of nowhere! Alison: [digs through her bag] I might have a nail file... I have a credit card. I have a credit card! Gib: Credit cards work on a completely different kind of lock. Alison: No, you don't seem to understand. I have a credit card! Gib: You have a credit card? Alison: I have a credit card! Gib: [relieved] You have a credit card. Alison: [suddenly crestfallen] Oh. My dad told me *specifically* I can only use it in case of an emergency. Gib: [sarcastically] Well, maybe one will come up."

"Alison Bradbury: Spontaneity has its time and place."
