Created by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and legendary concert promoter Bill Graham, the Us Festival assembled the best bands in the world including The Police, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Santana, Jackson Browne, Eddie Money, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmy Buffett, The Cars, Talking Heads, Ramones, Grateful Dead, Pat Benatar & The B52s.

Oingo Boingo and The Beat were the only acts to play both the Labor Day 1982 version of the festival as well as the Memorial Day 1983 edition.

Stevie Nicks also performed at both the Labor Day weekend 1982 and Memorial Day weekend 1983 editions of the festival. She performed at the 82 edition with Fleetwood Mac and performed solo at the 1983 edition.

The Kinks were not filmed after getting into a backstage row with the organizers. However, the band soon regretted their behavior due to the fact that they gave what they considered one of their best performances and it was not recorded.

During the Grateful Dead's set, a fuse blew and the band's performance was delayed for several minutes while the problem was fixed. When the problem was taken care of the band continued on with their set.

The Grateful Dead and Santana were the only bands to perform at both the 1982 Us Festival and Woodstock. In fact, the Dead are the only band that performed at the Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock as well as the Us Festival.
