All of the flintlock gun shots in the movie are real except for Ballenger's two final shots when his pistols malfunction. Digital effects were added for these.
During the filming of the hanging scene, Travis Mills passed out during the second take and fell against the tree. Pushing himself too far, the rope had cut off oxygen to his brain. He came to moments later and filming continued.
Daulton Brewer's second to last performance. He plays Big Harpe in the film and passed away during 2021 before the film was released.
