A sequel film was planned to release a couple years later with John Travolta as the voice of Gummibär which was called Gummibär 3D, which also planned to make a theatrical release. The film was however canceled due to budget failure.
The original title for this movie was going to be "Gummibar: Santa Where R U?", before it was changed to "Gummibar: The Yummy Gummy Search for Santa."
This movie made a free re-release to YouTube on The Official Gummibär Channel in 2014.
Unlike in the Gummibär songs and music videos, Gummibär's voice is very different in this movie when talking. Sonja Ball did his voiceover role making him sound like a chubby kid instead of the original voice actor that's heard in his songs on YouTube. His singing voice however is still his original voice.
In one scene, Gummibär releases his car which is the car used in The Gummy Bear Song.
"Allen: Allen: You just got schooled, boi!"
