Originally, it was unsure if there was going to be a sequel to The Transporter (2002). However, after strong DVD sales, it was quickly given the green light.

Was originally supposed to have an R rating, but the studio demanded a PG-13 rating to attract a wider audience.

This film is dedicated to the memory of Michael Stone who was director of photography and who died in a car accident on 29 July 2005.
