Tobe Hooper was originally considered to direct the segment "The Girl with Golden Breasts" while Dario Argento was initially slated to direct the segment "My Twin, the Worm."

Monte Hellman was the first person to sign on to direct a segment for this film.

Dennis Bartok got the idea for the segment 'Jibaku" from a real-life incident in which he discovered the body of a man who hanged himself in a cemetery while visiting Kyoto, Japan.

Ken Russell came up with the ending for the segment "The Girl with Golden Breasts."

Dennis Bartok wrote initial drafts of the script in 2003.
