Thomas Goersch, the male actor, knew the director in real life and agreed to be in the movie in order to help out a friend. He didn't know anything about his prior films at the time

Marian Dora originally wanted Victor Brandl from Cannibal (2006) to play the male character, but Brandl thought the movie sounded like pointless violence, so he turned down the role. He later regretted doing that.
At the 21:16 mark when the male character is putting out his cigarette you can see a portrait of a woman. That portrait is of Anna Elisabeth "Anneliese" Michel. The victim of negligent homicide due to a exorcism gone awry.
