IMDbThis was the seventh of eight Jerry Lewis films directed by former cartoon director Frank Tashlin.
This movie was a product placement lover's dream, featuring references to several popular brand-name items of the era including Hoover, RCA Whirlpool, and Waste King/Universal appliances; Channel Master electronics; MacGregor, Brunswick, and Garcia sporting goods; Honda motor scooters; Sealy mattresses; Browning firearms; Park & Tilford gourmet food/beverage products; Esquire shoe products (Lady Esquire), and several more.
It is said, that a young Christopher Lambert has an uncredited role as a little child.
The movie co-stars Ray Walston, who originated the part of Applegate in 'Damn Yankees.' In 1994, Jerry Lewis played the role in the Broadway revival.
Norman Phiffier's previous jobs include that of caddy, TV repairman, and Paramount Theater usher. Jerry Lewis played a caddy in The Caddy (1953) and a TV repairman in both Rock-a-Bye Baby (1958) and It's Only Money (1962). He also made a number of movies for Paramount, including Who's Minding the Store? (1963)
"[repeated line] Norman Phiffier: I believe a man has gotta be king in his own ranch-type-style tract house."
"Roberts: Mr. Phiffier has worked as a delivery boy at Macy's, theater usher at the New York Paramount, caddy at the Lodgemont Country Club, a TV repairman in the Bronx, and Mr. Phiffier also attempted to become a mailman but failed the test. Mrs. Phoebe Tuttle: How can anyone fail becoming a mailman? Roberts: Sloping shoulders. The bag kept slipping off."
