A year after this film was made, Ed Lover and Dr. Dre would release their first rap album for Relativity Records called "Back Off, Off Me" in 1994 which was promoted during, Yo, MTV Raps during the show's final season on MTV in 1994-1995.

Tony Como calls Dre and Lover "moulies". This is an offensive Italian slang term for African-Americans.

Ed Lover and Dr. Dre the films' stars were the hosts of the popular MTV show, "Yo, MTV Raps" from 1989 to 1995, which featured many of the rappers and singers that appear in this film that include Salt N' Pepa, Busta Rhymes, Monie Love, Favor Flav, Full Force, and the rap legends, Ice-T and RUN DMC. This show was created by the films' Director Ted Demme in 1988.
