TRIVIA

Trivia

Jaap Spijkers, Gerson Oratmangoen, Joshua Timisela and Ambonwhena Aratuaman also played in De Punt (2009), which was about the second train hijacking by Maluku terrorists in 1977.

The film is based on the book IJsbloemen en wittevelden, een spoor van geweld (Ice flowers and white fields, a track of violence) by Ger Vaders, which was adapted to script by his foster daughter Nicolette Steggerda.

For the recordings of the film, two dog-head train sets were used, the scenes that play in the train are included in the two-part train set 386 (collection Dutch Railway Museum), for the outdoor shots the four-part train set 766 (owned by the Foundation Mat '54 Hondekop- four) that has been painted yellow again before the film. The museum train set in the film differs from the train composition during the hijacking. In 1975 the train consisted of two two-car sets. Since all but one are demolished, one was dependent on the 766 for the outdoor shots.

On December 2, 1975, a train was hijacked by South Moluccan youths at Wijster. This was the first train hijacking in world history. There were three deaths: the machinist and two passengers were shot by the hijackers. After twelve days the hijackers surrendered. During their trial in 1976 they were sentenced to prison sentences of fourteen years.
