With Kim van Kooten, Lodewijk Crijns worked on a screenplay; each on their own computer. Crijns' version was story-wise thrilling and well-constructed but had flat, undeveloped characters. Van Kooten's version didn't really go anywhere but had incredibly strong lead roles. These two were merged into a single film about parents who have a severely disabled child but are actually ashamed of it.

Martin Koolhoven: "I think Lodewijk made a very personal film." . Michiel van Jaarsveld: "It's about his own fear, what he would do in such a situation." . Martin Koolhoven: "Many people think a personal film has to contain something you've literally experienced; that's nonsense." . Nanouk Leopold: "I thought Renée Soutendijk was absolutely beautiful. She's actually a somewhat unsympathetic character, but I would have liked to see even more scenes with her." . Martin Koolhoven: "I find it very thrilling." . Michiel van Jaarsveld: "I want to see it again. I was very impressed, well-structured, classic." . Martin Koolhoven: "Nobody says it, but Lodewijk made a horror film."
